Description

Underground Drainage Pipe provides a rigid uPVC channel for foul and surface water removal in buried drainage systems. Its corrosion-resistant body supports long-term flow performance and reliable installation in domestic and light-commercial groundworks. The pipe integrates with standard underground fittings to build continuous drainage runs that meet UK drainage regulations.

Designed for burial on granular bedding, it maintains structural stability under soil load and supports compliant gradients for effective water discharge. The system connects easily with chambers, gullies, bends, and access points used in foul and surface water drainage layouts.

Below are the two available variants, each offering a different jointing method for specific installation needs.

Plain-Ended Underground Drainage Pipe

Plain-ended Underground Drainage Pipe is a rigid uPVC conduit manufactured to BS EN 1401-1 standard. It provides a versatile channel for foul or surface water drainage. The plain-ended design allows connection with couplers, bends and junctions. Its light weight and corrosion-free composition make it suitable for underground installation, trench burial, and repair work. It delivers a reliable drainage path when combined with appropriate bedding and backfill systems.

Single-Socket Underground Drainage Pipe

Single-Socket Underground Drainage Pipe integrates a push-fit socket at one end for direct connection to plain-ended pipes or fittings. The socketed joint simplifies installation by eliminating the need for separate couplers. It retains uPVC’s resistance to chemical attack, moisture and soil conditions. This variant is ideal for rapid installations, short runs, repairs or confined sites where ease and speed of connection matter.

Both variants fit standard 110 or 160mm drainage systems. They suit new-build or refurbishment schemes requiring compliant foul or surface water drainage infrastructure. Installation in accord with regulatory drainage design ensures effective water conveyance, long-term durability, and system integrity.

Installation Guide:

  • Excavate trench and lay suitable granular bedding material

  • For plain-ended pipe: use compatible couplers / bends / fittings for connections

  • For socketed pipe: ensure socket joint is clean and free of debris; insert plain end fully into socket

  • Maintain correct gradient for foul or surface water drainage

  • Chamfer or bevel any cut ends before jointing to protect seals

  • Backfill with granular material around pipe before final backfill

  • Avoid sharp objects or heavy impact on pipe during installation

When should I choose plain-ended pipe over socketed pipe?

If you need maximum flexibility, for changes in direction, custom bends, junctions, or repairs, plain-ended pipe allows you to use couplers, bends and junction fittings. It is best in complex drainage layouts or where future alterations may be needed.

When is single-socket pipe more convenient?

Single-socket pipe is ideal for straight drainage runs, quick installations, or confined spaces. The built-in socket speeds up connection, reduces the number of parts, and simplifies the installation process, especially useful for repairs or short runs.
