Description

Rockwool Firestop Slab is a dense stone wool barrier designed for fire-stopping in façade cavities, floor junctions and compartment wall interfaces. The slab is manufactured from molten volcanic rock spun into stable fibres that deliver exceptional fire resistance, airtightness and acoustic absorption. Its semi-rigid structure allows a secure friction fit, ensuring a continuous fire barrier without mechanical fixings.

  • SP60 is engineered to provide up to 60 minutes fire resistance when used within tested cavity barrier systems. It suits medium-rise buildings, cavity interfaces and refurbishments needing reliable fire containment.
  • SP120 offers up to 120 minutes fire resistance for high-rise and demanding façade applications. It maintains stability under heat, resists slump and preserves compartmentation during prolonged fire exposure.

Both versions support curtain walling, cladding perimeters, service zones and structural junctions where safe fire separation is essential. They also deliver thermal insulation and sound absorption benefits within the same installation.

Installation Guide:

  • Clean and prepare openings or cavities before installation
  • Cut slabs accurately using an insulation saw or long-bladed knife
  • Insert slabs under slight compression for a tight friction fit
  • Butt all edges firmly to eliminate gaps and maintain fire integrity
  • Apply coated strip or Firestop Compound where system design requires
  • Protect slabs from prolonged weather exposure before installation
