Installation Guide:
- Ensure surfaces are clean, level, and free from debris
- Position the restraint strap according to structural design requirements
- Fix the strap using minimum 3.75 × 30 mm square twist nails or equivalent screws
- Secure to timber joists, rafters, or trusses at required spacing
- Bend or twist the strap if necessary to align with fixing points
- Check all fixings are tight and structurally secure before completion
What is EPS 50, EPS 70 and EPS 100 in Polystyrene Insulation Boards?
These grades refer to the density and compressive strength of expanded polystyrene (EPS) insulation boards, measured in kilopascals (kPa). The higher the number, the stronger and denser the board - meaning it can handle greater loads without losing its shape or insulation performance.
EPS 50: Offers a minimum compressive strength of 50 kPa. It is a lightweight grade, typically used in walls, ceilings, and non-load-bearing insulation where high strength isn’t required.
EPS 70: Provides at least 70 kPa compressive strength. This is the most common general-purpose grade, ideal for domestic floors, cavity walls, and roofs, balancing strength, insulation, and cost-effectiveness.
EPS 100: Delivers a minimum of 100 kPa compressive strength, making it denser and more durable. It is suitable for high-load areas such as ground floors, commercial roofing, and beneath concrete slabs.
In short: the higher the EPS number, the greater its strength and durability, making it more suitable for heavy-duty or structural insulation applications.
